This state-mandated 8-hour course is the first step in obtaining your Connecticut Guard Card and is required by the State of Connecticut for anyone seeking to become a licensed security officer. The course covers essential topics, legal requirements, and professional expectations to help you begin your career safely, legally, and professionally.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a clear understanding of the Guard Card application process and the confidence to take the next step toward becoming a Connecticut security officer.

Payment is required upon registering. There are no refunds once payment is made. We will happily reschedule your class for a more convenient time, and you may transfer your seat to another student. There is NO FEE to reschedule! If you are sick or otherwise cannot make it, please reach out to us and we will be happy to reschedule.


We also offer an optional service in class designed to make the process as easy as possible. Once class is complete, the only thing you’ll need to handle is your fingerprinting—we’ll take care of the rest, including submitting your application for you. We’ll explain how it all works during class.

What type of jobs can I work with a CT Guard Card?
A Connecticut Guard Card qualifies you for a wide range of unarmed security positions throughout the state. Common roles include retail loss prevention, school security, mall security, corporate office security, hospital security, warehouse and distribution center security, event security, residential community patrol, and construction site security. Nearly every professional unarmed security position in Connecticut requires a valid Guard Card.
What do I do next after class?
After successfully completing the 8-hour CT Guard Card course, you will complete your state and national background checks online, then schedule your fingerprinting appointment with the Connecticut State Police. These are the only two required steps after class — backgrounds and fingerprints. Once completed, you will mail your Guard Card application to the state for processing. We walk every student step-by-step through this process so you know exactly what to do.
