As a security officer, you may find yourself in a situation in which some level of force is needed to ensure your own safety or the safety of others. Most (hopefully, all) security companies will train you in their Use of Force Continuum. The names of each level on the continuum may vary, but the principles behind each level remain identical. Let’s explore the continuum in its entirety in the next five lessons.

Level One – Presence

Level Three – Empty-hand control
Level Four – Intermediate weapons
Level Five – Lethal force
